I'm a Small Batch Manufacturer, what do I ask for?

It's all in asking the right question.

When you need testiing it is important to know what you are asking for first. Once you figure that out (see the previous lessons and flow charts!), you can have a more clear question planned out.

Let's say you are making clothing and want to use flannel. You know that you need flammability testing and, after reading the flow charts, you know that code is 16 CFR Part 1610. You also know that you need to know the date tested. So your question may be:

Has this flannel (give style number or link if there is one) been tested to 16 CFR Part 1610 for use on clothing? If so, what was the date of testing and the result (we are looking for Class 1 or Class 2)?

The same will follow for any testing statement you need except for paints. If you need testing because an item has paint on it, you'll need to request the testing report (proprietary information may be blacked out)
